Mandy still lives here in Murchison….
Mike however, now lives in Rangiora (they divorced a few years ago)

We stayed in the hostel in March 2010 and it’s definately the cosiest hostel i’ve ever visited. NZ hostels in general are quite good but lazy cow was so wonderful it even stuck out from all the others. It almost felt like actually being home.

What a lovely, cosy and just great place to stay; one of the best in NZ – I am writing it while sitting on the Lazy Cow’s sofa, eating a delicious date cake, looking at the fire and generally enjoying myself. Thank you!

Myself and my travel buddy Jaime stayed here a couple of years ago, we actually took a different route back across the island so that we could stay here again. Ali and Phil were so lovely, the food was amazing (just what you need when your backpacking) and the rooms were beautiful. I’m planning to go back to NZ in 2013 and i’ll definitely be paying a visit. Best hostel i’ve ever stayed in! Laura:)

I was just there with my 3 mtbiking mates. We were recommended to stay here by a friend and wow what a home away from home! Super impressed from the moment we walked through the door! Warm, cozy, homely, games, puzzles and comfy couches. Totally what we needed after a day mtbiking kirwans track. We left here to do a 2day mtb on the old ghost road, what a great place to get ready from and the pumpkin spice cake that was kindly made for their guests, holly Molly, delish!!!! Thank you!
